Self Assesment

Investigation and understanding
We think that we have developed a satisfactory investigation based on questions that are relevant to each other and connected to the big question.
We understand a lot about fast foods and their attraction. We know that every advertisement, every new burger is just for money. We know that they are just thinking about themselves and THEY know that we are getting fatter.
Teamwork and Communication
We think our team is highly effective and co-operative. We all had clear roles which have been negotiated and agreed upon. We explained in our speech what we each did during xplore and we think that it was really great teamwork that helped us to accomplish such a great presentation! We had no fights and everything was completed smoothly.
Presentation
We thought that we demonstrated a great use of appropriate ICT to present information relevant to our investigation. We thought our presentation was appropriate for our audience.

Presentation

Our group was the first group to do their presentation. It turned out to be great. Our presentation turned out to be everything we thought it would!!! We learnt a lot through this process, we will be sure to take in what we've learnt and remind ourselves every time we have the choice to eat healthy or fast food. We're proud to have done xplore and we cant wait until the next challenge! (urban experience).

Day 8

Today is the final day of working on our presentation on fast foods. Obviously we didn't learn anything new as it was just typing up the information that we had collected over the past week on our topic. All in all I think that our presentation is going to be short and sweet while still getting across some information without boring people. Along with our speeches containing more detailed information our whole thing should be interesting and she what we learned.

Day 6

Today we are supposed to start on our presentation but as my group is away at football I am busy putting the final touches on my information that I will be presenting. I found out today that there are NO plans being made by the Federal Government of Australia to regulate the amount of Fast Food that is advertised on television!

We also had a guest speaker come to talk to us today. She discussed third world health and how instead of just throwing money at the problem we should take the time to educate the underprivileged people about how to deal with the problems themselves, such as personal hygiene. These people do not even know that washing your hands after you go to the toilet will help you to not get diarrhoea! By actually teaching these people things that most of us know from birth we can help them to prevent getting diseases that are killing them but that we manage to survive with ease because we know how to deal with it when we get it. If we do this we can help THEM build a better life for THEMSELVES!

Day 3

Today a chiropractor visited us and explained to us what he does for a living and how we can improve on our own spines. I thought it was very interesting because it effected us directly. The chiropractor showed us ways such as 'deep breathing' to correct our posture, in effect, expanding our attention span. He was similar to the osteopath because their main focus was the brain and they talked a lot about muscle tension!

Our group progress is going quite well but I have realised there was much less time than the Term 1 cycle for Xplore.

Day 2

We have just finished listening to a guest speaker (an Osteopath). He started talking to us about what his job actually is, because not many people have ever heard of this profession. People with pain in their joints, bones or muscles go to him and he doesn't just look at the area of the pain, he looks at the entire body to discover what the actual cause of the pain is. And he, instead of just treating the pain, tries to relax the area that is causing a problem so that the body can heal itself which is more effective in the long run for people. It was quite interesting to hear what he was talking about and to see his demonstrations of helping people.

Day 1

Today we start our second instalment of Xplore.
We plan on getting our Gantt chart organised with post-it notes that have been provided by our kind co-ordinators. This will keep us organised and Puji is currently sorting out when our work should be done on the chart.
The task we decided to take on is Fast Foods which will broaden our knowlege on fast food and the impact it really makes.
